Hon. Angela J. Badamo

Hon. Angela J. Badamo is Acting Justice of the New York State Supreme Court, Criminal Term, New York County. Judge Badamo serves as a member of the Committee on Criminal Jury Instructions and Model Colloquies.   

Judge Badamo began her judicial career in 2017, when she was appointed by Mayor Bill de Blasio and assigned to the New York City Criminal Court.  Prior to her appointment to the bench, Judge Badamo was Assistant Deputy Counsel in the Office of the Chief Administrative Judge and served as Counsel to the Committee on Criminal Jury Instructions and Model Colloquies; the New York State Permanent Commission on Sentencing; and the Guide to New York Evidence Committee. Judge Badamo also worked on statewide court initiatives, including the implementation of Integrated Domestic Violence Courts and Mental Health Courts.

Before working in court administration, Judge Badamo served as Court Attorney to the Honorable Analisa Torres in New York County Criminal Court and New York County Civil Court.  Prior to joining the New York State Unified Court System, Judge Badamo was Associate Appellate Counsel at the Criminal Appeals Bureau of The Legal Aid Society.  Judge Badamo is a graduate of Washington & Lee University School of Law and Binghamton University.
