Hon. Keshia Espinal

Judge Espinal was born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens.  She graduated from St. Vincent Ferrer HS, New York, New York, in 1991 and graduated from St. Joseph’s College, Brooklyn, New York, in 1995.  During college, she worked as a paralegal/Spanish Interpreter for various defense attorneys.  After college, Judge Espinal worked for two years as a paralegal/Spanish Interpreter for a Criminal Defense Attorney who focused on Federal Defense work.  She graduated from Western New England University School of Law in 2000.  Judge Espinal began working for the Queens County District Attorney’s Office (“QDA”) in March 2001, and was in the Criminal Court/Domestic Violence, Appeals, Supreme Court Trial Bureaus, and the Domestic Violence Bureau in Major Crimes.  She resigned from the QDA as a Supervising Assistant District Attorney in the Domestic Violence Bureau May 2017 for the Bench.  She took the bench in May 2017 and was assigned to Kings County Criminal Court.  Judge Espinal ran the Domestic Violence, Special Victims and Human Trafficking parts in Brooklyn.  She was transferred to New York County Criminal Court in March 2019, where she sat in the Domestic Violence part as well as the hearing and trial parts.  In January 2021 Judge Espinal became the Supervising Judge of Criminal Court, Kings County.
