
Honorable Patsy Gouldborne was elected as Judge of the Civil Court for the City of New York on November 8, 2016. After her election she was assigned to preside over cases in the Bronx Criminal Court until January of 2021. Judge Gouldborne was elevated and made an Acting Justice of the New York State Supreme Court and presided over cases in Bronx Supreme Court Matrimonial Part. After her elevation, Acting Justice Gouldborne was elected as a Justice of the New York State Supreme Court on November 2, 2021. Justice Gouldborne presides over cases at the Bronx Supreme Court, Civil Term.
Justice Gouldborne’s family migrated to the United States in the 1960’s from Puerto Limon, Costa Rica. She was born and raised in Bronx County. She attended kindergarten at Williamsbridge NAACP Day Care Center, Public School 103, Junior High School 113, and Harry S. Truman High School. She graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology, and then earned her Juris Doctorate at Pace University. In her last year of law school, she attended Pace University’s London Law Program. There she interned at the House of Commons at Parliament in London, England and earned her International Law Certificate.
Justice Gouldborne services the community by providing interns with the opportunity to experience the inner workings of the Courthouse. Justice Gouldborne unfailingly volunteers her time as a mentor; giving guidance and support to our future young leaders, assisting with programs serving Bronx youth and being engaged in multiple community activities and organizations. Justice Gouldborne is a member of the Latino Judges Association, Judicial Friends Association, Bronx Bar Association, and other organizations. Justice Gouldborne is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the National Council of Negro Women, Co-op City Section.
